About the DICS            

The Division of Investigations & Clinical Support is staffed by a group of experienced clinical professionals and investigators.

 

The Unit is responsible for: 

  • Providing follow-up up on Surveillance Utilization Review Subsystem (SURS) Exception Reports to ascertain whether Medicaid providers have properly billed Medicaid.

  • Reviewing medical and non-medical billing documentation for inconsistencies.

  • Conduct site visits to the Medicaid provider facilities.

  • Conferring with subject matter experts

  • Interviewing Medicaid recipients to investigate billing and/or documentation discrepancies.

  • Analyzing the CPT and ICD-9 codes submitted by providers for accuracy.

  • Making recommendations to a specific Medicaid program regarding the recovery of any improperly billed services and/or possible changes in procedures.

  • Other assignments at the direction of the Inspector General.
