This site provides links to sources of information, training, policies and procedures regarding the prevention and management of back injuries. Many of the items have a healthcare focus and may be of interest to nurse managers, trainers, and nursing staff who perform patient transfers.

Back injuries constitute about one third of all state workers compensation injuries. Approximately half of the total workers’ compensation costs are for back injuries. Fraud cases are frequently over-represented by alleged back problems. Some insurance professionals state that as much as 15% of all back claims have some form of fraud.
